Doug Ogle New Superintendent

 Dear Perkins-Tryon school family,
We wanted you to be the first to know some exciting news about our district. During Thursday’s special
meeting, we, members of the Perkins-Tryon Board of Education, approved the hire of Doug Ogle, an
administrator for Guthrie Public Schools, to serve as our next superintendent.
Mr. Ogle will step into the position of superintendent this summer. He will succeed Joe McElroy who
will retire June 30.
With help from the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, the board selected Mr. Ogle from an
impressive slate of candidates. OSSBA has helped facilitate superintendent searches across the state,
working with other school board associations throughout the country to ensure a competitive
applicant pool.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Ogle to our district family. Mr. Ogle has extensive experience in
education and inside the classroom with 27 years as a teacher, coach and administrator. He believes in
working collaboratively with students, district staff and community members to ensure a positive
learning environment.
He began his career in education at Blackwell Public Schools in 1996 as a teacher and coach before
moving into administration as the high school assistant principal and athletic director for four years.
In 2013, Mr. Ogle moved to Guthrie Public Schools where he served as the junior high principal. After a
year as principal, Mr. Ogle accepted his current position as assistant superintendent.
Mr. Ogle obtained his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from Oklahoma State
University and his master’s degree in educational administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State
University.
Thank you to the parents, staff and community members who participated in the superintendent
search survey. Your responses were incredibly valuable as our board navigated the search process and
narrowed down candidates to a professional who values our district and community and who will help
our district continue to grow and provide new, exciting opportunities for our students.
Sincerely,
Members of the Perkins-Tryon Board of Education
